It All Started With Shimmer.

DHK Shimmer

Before Drama House Kennels became a breeding program, Shimmer was simply part of the family. She went everywhere with us. Her size, structure, intelligence, temperament, and distinctive look naturally drew attention, and people who met her often asked about having a dog like her.

Eventually came the realization that what she carried would not always be there. Her foundation had already been developed within the family over generations, and preserving it meant deciding what should be carried forward.

That decision became the beginning of the breeding journey behind Drama House Kennels. What followed was not a straight path. There were breedings that did not take, combinations that taught us something different than expected, setbacks, losses, and generations that gave us more to learn from.

Each experience added to the understanding behind the program and continues to influence the decisions being made today.

Our Foundation. Our Direction.

Drama House Kennels grew from a family foundation that existed long before DHK became a breeding program. Over the years, that foundation has been carried forward through raising, breeding, observing, and learning from multiple generations of dogs.

Today, the program continues to develop through carefully selected pairings and the information each generation gives us. We pay attention to what came before, what each dog brings to a pairing, and what is actually produced before making decisions about what comes next.

Where It Began

The blood behind DHK was developed within the family over multiple generations before the kennel itself existed. Shimmer carried that foundation forward and became the dog that turned a family history with these dogs into the beginning of Drama House Kennels.

Purpose-Driven Pairings

Every dog added to the program is considered for a reason. We look at the individual dog, physical traits, pedigree, bloodline history, available DNA information, related dogs, and what previous generations have produced.

A pairing is considered not only for what it may produce today, but for how it fits into the generations that may follow.

Continued Development

No single breeding tells the whole story. Each generation gives us another opportunity to observe what carried forward, what changed, and what should be considered next.

Those results, together with pedigrees, available DNA information, and what we observe in the dogs themselves, continue to guide the development of the DHK program.

The Studs & Dams Behind the Program

Every dog within the DHK program gives us something to study, appreciate, and learn from. Their structure, temperament, physical traits, pedigrees, measurements, and genetic information help build a more complete picture of the individual dog and the generations behind them.

Experience taught us what to look for. Today, additional tools allow us to look deeper. Pedigrees help us follow the dogs behind each generation, while Embark DNA testing gives us another layer of information to consider alongside what we can see, measure, and observe for ourselves.

The goal is not to assume that any one test or trait tells the whole story. It is to use the information available, continue learning from the dogs we produce, and make each future decision with greater understanding than the one before it.

FBB Carnage

Our Studs

Meet the males behind the DHK program and explore their individual characteristics, measurements, pedigrees, and available Embark DNA information.

For breeders interested in working with DHK blood, select males may also be available for outside stud service under separate breeding requirements.

DHK Shimmer

Our Dams

Meet the females carrying the DHK program forward and explore their individual characteristics, measurements, pedigrees, and available Embark DNA information.

What we learn from each female, together with what we observe in the generations she produces, becomes another part of the information considered as the program continues forward.

If you are purchasing an available puppy and paying the full purchase price, no separate deposit is required. If you would like to reserve a future puppy or pick position first, a Reservation Payment may be required to complete a reservation and is applied toward the total purchase amount.
